Favorite Dish

We all have our favorite type of food. Today im going to share with you one of my favorites, and the most favorite dish in it.

I might not be Indian, but my favorite type of food has got to be Indian food. I love the smell, taste, and texture. I didn't always like Indian food, but then i moved next to some really nice Indian people. Whenever they cooked [which was like twice a day] they would always bring me over a plate. I was a little wary at first but then they brought me this:

Indian Biryani Rice, one of India's most famous dishes.

It smelled so good, and tasted even better. Since that day Ive always looked forward to Indian meal time.
Do any of you guys like spicy foods too? we'll your in luck! I managed to get the recipe:)

Serves 6-8
Ingredients

Cooking the Rice
1 package Ajika Basmati Rice washed and drained
1/2 tsp. salt
10 cups water

Cooking the Biryani
2 lbs. chicken, lamb or mutton leg/shoulder cut into bite size pieces, washed and drained
5 tbs. oil or ghee
2 onions, peeled and thinly sliced
3-4 cloves of garlic minced
1 inch piece ginger minced
1-3 green chillies minced
6-7 tbsp. Ajika Biryani Spices
2- 2 1/2 tsp. salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup thick yoghurt
2 large tomatoes, chopped
1/2 bunch of cilantro leaves, minced
1 lime or 1/2 lemon, cut into small pieces
A few strands of saffron soaked in a tablespoon of warm water
1 tbs. Ghee

Method:
Cooking the Meat
Heat oil/ghee in a large pan and fry onions, until quite dark brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep aside.
In the same oil (add more if needed), add spices ginger and garlic. Fry for a minute or two.
Add meat pieces, salt, chilli. Stir fry until meat is nicely browned on all sides.
Add yoghurt, tomatoes, cilantro, lime. Cook, stirring frequently, until meat is soft and only a little gravy is left.

Cooking the Rice
While meat is cooking, boil the water for rice with salt.
Add rice and bring to a rolling boil, until 2/3rd done about 5 minutes after the boil.
Drain/Seive the water off like you do when cooking pasta. You can run a little cold water over it, to stop the rice from cooking further while resting. Leave in the colander for a few minute, for the water to drain out completely.
Add ghee to grease a large oven proof dish or a pan.

Layering the Biryani
Spread 1/3rd of the rice in a layer at the base of the pan. Now layer with 1/2 of the meat.
Repeat the layering till the last layer is the rice.
Sprinkle the saffron on the top of the rice.
Add fried onions on top.
Dot with a little ghee.
Cover the pan with a tight lid.
Put it in a medium hot oven and bake for 30 minutes at 350 F the rice is fully done.

You should have the perfect Biryani.

You guys HAVE to try this! If you do tell me about it.

Men & Me [part 2]

Recap from last week:

I wasn't ready for all this but i didn't want to miss out on anything, you only live once right? I admit i wasn't very enthusiastic at the thought, and it takes me a while to warm up to people. but he kissed me goodnight, and then i just waited...and waited....

And waited and waited. Yea I ended up waiting for that walk an entire week. I had no idea what could have went wrong. I backtracked the entire day, nothing. we went out for coffee, sat on the couch and watched Jurassic park, he kissed me goodnight, i couldn't find anything wrong with the entire day. I didn't see him again for months, i was so upset. Shouldn't he have had the courtesy to at least tell me why everything went so wrong? I knew i should have called to at least ask, but i was so hurt. I ran into him a couple months later and it was kind of awkward. He was the one who looked hurt, i couldn't understand.

A couple of days ago [yea, a whole lot of months later] one of my best friends ran into him. She was fed up with everything so she asked K what happened.

He told her that he was AFRAID. Apparently i had showed hesitation when he asked me to take "The Walk". He told her that he was waiting for me to call, to show him that i wanted this too. But i never called him, even days, weeks, and months later.

By this time i was very much over K but i still got upset. THATS WHY! I thought i did something horrible, or he heard some horrible false rumor about me. I started to think of how happy i was and how I wished I had shown it more on the outside.

So now i tell myself, the next person I fall in "like" with, they will know that i like them back!

Tune in next week to find out about the next weekends adventures.

Funny Friday!

Everyone has to have their favorite comedy show, maybe even several. I mean what would the world be like if there weren't any? Probably total chaos. But lets admit, some are a little bit better than others. we all have out preference, but ill share with you my top:

Ahh yes, THE OFFICE! This is my kind of comedy. I spend hours with my brother watching this show, and i cry every time.

The Office debuted in 2005 and is about a paper company in scranton. How can this be even remotly funny you ask? With the help of delusional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is my answer.

Steve Carell is one of the funniest men on T.V., even when i see him playing a different role i have to chuckle. In regards to The Office, I think its genius to have humor where its not intended, it just makes it that much more funny.

Besides Michael Scott, I think my favorite character would have to be Dwight. I hope that there are not actual people like this in the world.
heres a link to a clip of Michael Scott and Dwight: you tube
There is little drama every now and then (love between Jim and Pam, etc.) but what show would be complete without it? So I highly recommend this show to anyone with a good sense of humor.
-enjoy,

Video Games Arent Just For Kids

So i know not everybody is as into video games as i am, and some people are probably a lot more into them then I'll ever be. But im still going to tell you my favorite and see what happens. My favorite video game is actually a series [well not series, but ya know] of video games.

My Favorite video game was created by Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, developed and published by NINTENDO! And has sold over 57 mil copies since the release of its first game. You save a princess and get to ride a horse.

Still dont know what im talking about?

Yes, the one, the only, The Legend Of Zelda!

Ocarina Of Time was probably my all time favorite zelda video game or any video game in the whole world for that matter.[scored 10.0 on ign! must mean its perfect right?] I think every person in the world should have played that game. But quickly following Ocarina Of Time is the more recent Twilight Princess:

Twilight princess is pretty amazing, and i dont think you should go through life without playing it. The graphics are pretty amazing for a wii game, and the storyline is of course perfect [is it weird that i had a crush on link when i was little?...] The neat thing about Zelda games [at least for me] is that they never get old. I could pick one up and start playing one again and i would have just as much fun as i did the first time. I'll never get tired of saving the land of hyrule. In fact, i think i just might go do that:)
Whats your fave videogame of all time?

You Havent Lived Until You've....

Ive always thought this was a hard question to answer. It entails knowing what you couldn't live without doing, seeing or experiencing. but not just the top 5 things that make you smile [although they can be included, and they might turn out to be the same]. Its the top 5 things that take your breath away. Those things that youve always appreciated, and you always will. Those places you went that you cant even describe. That person, that movie, that song. It can even be something silly.

You havent lived until you've:
1. Played at the ocean all day
2. Loved
3. Helped Someone
4. Listened to Nat King Cole's "LOVE"

5. Watched the "Titanic"

right, so if you couldnt tell by now im a simple girl, and i like simple things haha.

and you should know by know that my next question is what are yours? I think its always interesting hearing them.

SUPERHERO'S

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that everyone has to have a favorite comic super hero, or even villain. [Maybe it’s just me? But I doubt it ] there are definatly a lot to choose from; you have superman, batman, wonder woman etc. My personal favorite however is Spiderman.

Ahh yes, peter parker[Tobey Maguire]. He’s grown on me so much that I think he’s hot, really hot. [Spiderman movies, not comics…that’s just wrong] too bad he’s married…

But anyways he’s the greatest! The way hes just a normal guy, or at least tries to act normal, and then BAM! saves the day [yea yea I know that’s how it goes with all superhero’s, but spidie’s different, somehow…] I thought it was so fun having a favorite superher when i was little, and your was always the coolest no matter what. And man those spiderman movies are AWESOME, yea?

who is you favorite superhero, or bad guy?

Men & Me [part 1]

Men: you can live with 'em, and you cant live without 'em.

I might not be the most accomplished gal in the field of men, but i know enough to know that I'll never know enough. I just got out of a 3 year relationship[well not just, more than a half year] and gosh i didn't know single life was so fun! this previous relationship however has left me a little lacking in dating skills area...This should make for fun times right? From happy endings to horrible disasters, once a week you get to here about my single life [or not single life], and my "attempts" at the cold, cruel world of Men, and Me.

So lets back track 5 or 6 months ago. I had the biggest "crush" [for lack of a better word] on this guy, we'll call him "K" . I thought K was handsome, funny, fun, and mature [a little shy, but o well]. His friends started talking with my friends and my friends would talk to me. Turns out K had been talking about me too! but i was "much too intimidating and out of his league" [btw guys, wth? how can you be out of someone league?] His friends had found out that i liked him and they told him to go for it. He told them there was no way i liked him, i got frustrated. So i tried to make it a little more obvious; initiating conversations and all that. He finally got the courage and started to talk to me all the time, and after a while we started going on dates. I was ecstatic! I mean, who wouldn't be? The guy you like notices you, and then likes you back, awesome. He did everything so perfectly. I'd wait for him to mess up, but nope. Perfect gentleman. [don't worry guys i knew it was only a show for the getting-to-know-each other phase] The only problem i had was the speed at which everything took place. Id just officially met him one day, and the next he was buying me coffee, the next out to a restaurant. By the forth day he wanted to "take the walk".

I wasn't ready for all this but i didn't want to miss out on anything, you only live once right? I admit i wasn't very enthusiastic at the thought, and it takes me a while to warm up to people. but he kissed me goodnight, and then i just waited...and waited....

Come back next week to hear part 2 of Men & Me :)
